By filming and projecting the performers back onto the set in real time, this production pushes the boundaries of projection in opera. The resulting large scale close ups give the audience an intimate, and emotional connection with the singers, as well as new perspectives within the space.
Anna was inspired by panotopian prisons, and wanted to create a foreboding structure mirroring the circular Glyndebourne auditorium. She uses mesh as a gauze to create textured surfaces for projection, at the same time allowing the audience to see the live performer at all times.
